Awarded to a Junior class student with demonstrated financial need pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. Preference given to a SD resident. The recipient will be required to maintain a 3.00 GPA and to enroll in 14 credit hours each semester.

Freedom Scholarship
The Freedom Scholarship is a public/private partnership scholarship made available through generous private donations and the State of South Dakota to assist South Dakota students with financial need. Eligible students must:
- Maintain South Dakota Residency
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by the awarding institution
- Meet a minimum 2.00 GPA requirement
- Be pursuing a baccalaureate degree
- Graduate in five years or less
- Commit in writing to live and work in South Dakota for three years post graduation.
- Acknowledge failure to meet any of these requirements will result in the conversion from scholarship to interest-bearing loan
Friends of Music
Awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Music. Preference will be given to student actively involved in one or more of the following groups: Concert Choir, Concert Band, Black Hills Singers, Black Hills Gold, Jazz Band, Dakota Chamber Orchestra, or Pep Band. Auditions are held February. New freshman applicants must preform live auditions or send in audition tape to the music Department, and must be in the top 40% of their graduating class. The recipient will be required to maintain a 2.50 GPA.

Northern Hills Disabled American Vets Scholarship
Awarded to a Junior or Senior class student pursuing a baccalaureate degree. Preference will be given to disabled veterans first, veterans second, or the spouse or child of veterans third. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA and successfully complete a minimum of 30 credit hours each academic year. The recipient will further be required to provide proof of an honorable discharge (DD214) and attend a DAV Chapter 11 meeting once late each semester (November and April) to give an oral presentation on their course of study and how the scholarship has helped them.
